Steffen Heber has a joint appointment between the Department of Computer Science and the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences to support the Bioinformatics Research Center at NCSU. His research interests are Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
Before coming to Raleigh, Steffen Heber was a post doc at University of California, San Diego with Pavel Pevzner. He did his PhD thesis in the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) under the supervision of Martin Vingron and Joerg Hoheisel.
Research
Interests
I am interested in applying techniques from computer science and mathematics to biological problems. My current work focuses on investigating alternative splicing, designing algorithms for analyzing microarray and deep sequencing experiments, algorithms for finding common intervals in permutations, and developing animations for Bioinformatics Education. Please visit the
Alternative Splicing Gallery (ASG)
to see some of my recent work about alternative splicing.
